In parallel to conducting research at the bench, I pursue many opportunities to share science with others.
Here are some highlights of some of my favorite projects!

Produced on the 2019 Adventure Term expedition "On the Border," this short video explores the threats to the Cactus Ferruginous Pygmy Owl and the impact of the proposed border wall on this and other endangered species. Conceptualized and produced by Melisa DeGroot, with video recording by Melisa DeGroot, Olivia Reda, and Catherine Kagemann.
Upon my arrival to Cornell for graduate school, I received the Dean's Excellence Fellowship in Support of Diversity in recognition of being a first generation college student. This fellowship provided me with one year of funding as well as resources to connect with the firstgen community at Cornell.
I successfully submitted this research proposal to receive Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) funding for three years of my graduate degree. I assembled this proposal in 2015 with the guidance of my advisor, Dr. Kelly Liu during the first few months of graduate school at Cornell University.
I make flyers for a variety of events within my communities. I have especially enjoyed collaborating with my gym community to encourage participation in fitness events to raise funds for local charities. Here are a few of my favorites!
To help participants navigate the BMCB-GGD Symposium at Cornell, I assembled this pamphlet which includes an event schedule, speaker biographies, poster session details, and acknowledgement of the event sponsors and organizers.
